wilson family photos

Meet the Wilson family. Do they look familiar? That's because she's my sister. After Rory's first birthday party we went out for some family pictures. Aren't they cute? Rory is a little character (I posted some that just had funny faces because I thought they were cute) and Tilly is a goober. He was a little more hesitant to give those smiles than his baby sis but eventually we got a few.

rory turns one

Tuesday Rory (my neice) celebrate one whole year of life outside of her mommy's womb. Hard to believe she is already one. My sister came over and we went out to get some yummy cupcakes. On our way out we sat the girls by the brick wall and I tried to snap some pictures. Her actual birthday party will be tomorrow and we are planning to do a little family photo shoot. Can't wait.

Happy Birthday Roro!

15 months

Lydia turned 15 months on the 21st. The 21st just happened to be my niece, Rory's birthday too! My sister came over and we went out for some cupcakes! What a joy it is to be able to celebrate these moments with family. (those pictures will mostly be in the next post but a few of lydia will be in this one..)

I took Lydia for her 15 month well baby visit today.
She was not happy about having anything done to her. Didn't want to stand on the scale. Didn't want the measuring tape wrapped around her head. Did not want that cold metal thing on her chest. Didn't even want to lay on the table to get her length measured. Maybe it was because I woke her up from a nap to go to the dr. Mean of me, I know. At least I brought cheerios and those she DID like to eat :)

She weighs 23.8 lbs (60th %tile) and is 29.5 in long (25th %tile). Her head circumference was 45 cm?? (25th %tile)

This girl is growing by leaps and bounds. Her hair is getting longer. Her feet are getting bigger (had to move up to size 4 in shoes). And her vocabulary and capabilities are expanding every day. It's blowing my mind to see the toddler she's becoming. (Thankful I have another baby coming... I miss those little days)

She has 5 teeth now. 2 on top and 3 on bottom. I think she is working on about 5 more right now.

Here are some of the things she can say at 15 months:
hi. hello. bye bye. mama. dada. all done. thank you. more. help. baby. book. night night. apple. ball. papaw. jesse. roro (rory). hot. nana (banana). baba (bottle...yup still doing that one time a day). up pup (the favorite book). light. out side. bird. no no. yes. belly. diaper. bug. gentle. (and something that sounds like) here you go.

Oh wow that's over 25 things. I have never written them all out before. I've probably left out a thing or two but that was all I could think of off the top of my head.

Photobucket

She knows where her head, nose, mouth, belly, and nose are. She can do an elephant noise and will roar like a dinosaur. She does sign language for more, please. eat, thank you, all done, and a modified version of help.

Lydia loves going on walks outside. She really enjoys being in the kitchen with me. She cracks us up because she'll come in there and have her own little agenda to get accomplished. She'll go to a cabinet and start putting in all the magnets. Or putting all the magnets in a bowl and mixing them around. Whatever her task...she knows what she's out to accomplish.

She still loves books. She will empty out her book basket and climb in for a nice cozy place to read. She'll sit there and look through all her books. While I've been typing this she keeps coming up to the couch laying a book down and then saying "help." I help her up onto the couch. She says "thank you" then reads one page of the book, closes it and then wiggles off the couch. Grab a different book and the process starts all over again. I hope she will continue to love books.

Patrick and I are so very thankful for what a sweet, happy girl we have. She has been a great first baby. We can't wait to see how she transitions into big sister. We still have a little while on that one though :) For now I'm soaking up my time with just my one little girl. Loving her hugs, kisses, giggles, and all around cuteness.

baby #2: 24 weeks

I am late in posting my 24 week update but better late than never.

I went on Wednesday and had my glucose screening done. The drink was NASTY! Last time they gave me the orange soda drink and it wasn't too bad. This time I thought I'd be brave and try the fruit punch flavored one. Bad call. Stick to the orange! Anyway I passed the test. No gestational diabetes for me! I was honestly a little worried because I have been craving sweets like it's my job and drinking cokes like my life depended on it.

Although the glucose screening wasn't affected by my eating habits, my weight gain was! I now weigh 128lbs. I gained 6 lbs in the last month. I know that's not terrible but definitely high. If I keep it up I'll gain like 50+ lbs for the entire pregnancy. I'm hoping for more like 30 lbs max. Right now I've gained 14.

Everything else looked great. My blood pressure was a little high (probably because I'd just seen how much weight I'm gained) but still well within normal range.

And sweet baby girl's heart beat was in the 150's. I'm measuring right on track at 24 weeks. Keep on cooking little girl!

video catch up

We had a few weeks of really nice weather. Lydia and I took lots of walks around our park in the neighborhood but we also made a special trip to the bigger park with daddy and grandma. I know these videos may be kind of boring to some but to aunts and uncles and grand parents who don't live so close they are special :)

Here are a few of her at the house. She loves to read books. Her favorite right now is Dr. Seuss's Hop on Pop. The first page says UP PUP pup is up. Lydia therefore refers to this book (and really any Dr. Seuss book) as Up Pup.

mi familia

I went home a few weeks ago and was hoping to get to spend some time with just my mom and dad and grandma (Nanny). Of course Lydia would be there too. This may sound selfish but with so many brothers and sisters (most of which has kids of their own) one on one time doesn't always happen as much as I'd like it to. Not living in the same town as my parents I like them to have some time where they can just love on Lydia with out 7 other grand babies also wanting their attention.

Well how silly of me. It didn't happen :) I ended up seeing every single one of my nieces and nephews that day and all but one of my siblings. And I wouldn't have had it any other way. I am glad they all showed up at random times. It made it more real. It also made it more fun. The more the merrier. I love my family and I love how big it is. At times it can be hard to really get in good conversations and quality time but that's life right.

I especially enjoyed getting to see my Nanny. I love that she is getting to spend so much time with all her grand kids and great grand kids.

I hope in this post that you don't get the wrong idea. I LOVE my family :)

p.s. some how my nephew myles and niece joise were left out of these pictures. i think they had already gone home.

praise God from whom all blessings flow!

There are many couples adopting at our church. It is amazing to see how the Lord has given them hearts that long to have children from all over the world. Some here in Louisville, some from other states, and some from across the world.

Yesterday we had the privilege of welcoming a couple and their 2 babies. This is a homecoming that has been many years in the making. They have had heartache after heartache but have continued strong in their faith and in their pursuit of their children.

Many from our church gathered at the airport to meet these two babies and celebrate with their parents. What a joy it was to see the excitement in everyone as they walked into view. There was such a crowd that many people were asking what all the commotion was about (bet they were shocked that so many people were there for two adopted babies). Thankfully the airport staff didn't have to kick us out for the rowdiness.

I put together a little video of the time at the airport. I really wish I knew more about making videos because I pretty much have no knowledge in that field. When they walked in everyone cheered like crazy and then broke out in singing the doxology. It was glorious. I sadly didn't know how to turn down the other song to let that part be heard. So just imagine it:)
