sam boy

This is Sam. First grandchild on Patrick's side. He turned one earlier this month. We love Sam. He is funny and cute. Loud and on the move. He knows how to dance (bobs his head). Scrunches his nose in the cutest way possible. He's our only nephew on that side of the family. He's our Sam boy.

Patrick used to kid when I was pregnant and say we should name our baby Sam girl. I always think of this now when I say Sam boy.

chatting

here's a video of us chatting with our girl tonight. enjoy

saying bye is hard to do

This weekend we have said goodbye a few times and let me tell you, it's hard. On Saturday we said goodbye to our good friends Clint and Alex. We used to live on the same street for both of our first year of marriage. What a blessing it was to have them so close. I got to enjoy the privilege of walks and talks and yummy meals shared with Alex. She was really one of my first friends after Patrick and I married. She is one of those people who make you feel at home. I could talk to Alex about anything and could count on good solid godly advice. I'm REALLY going to miss her! To top it off she and I were pregnant together and ended up having the babies just 1 1/2 months apart. We will miss playdates and watching Sawyer grow. They are moving to Philadelphia to work with a church plant. I've known this day was coming for over a year but for some reason I didn't believe it. I now wish I would have spent a lot more time with her because now she's gone and hanging out wont be so easy. So that was one goodbye.

The other was today. We said goodbye to our dog Kirby. We have been throwing the idea around for a little while now and finally decided it'd be better for him to have a new home. I mentioned it on facebook and a guy contacted me about his uncle. He recently had to put down his dog and was getting the itch for another pup. Kirby seemed to be a good fit. Patrick and I will miss him for sure but really feel like this was the right move. We made the final decision last night and dropped him off with the guy this afternoon. I've shed lots of tears but after cleaning up all his hair this afternoon and my allergies going crazy, I can see this is going to be good. It's been a fun year and a half. He'll forever be our Kirbers. The guy said we could come and visit if we ever get to missing him real bad.

So those were my goodbyes for the weekend. I'm really hoping I don't have to do any more any time soon.

3 months

Lydia turned 3 months on Monday and also welcomed a new little cousin. It was a big day!
Photobucket
Lydia has been congested since last Thursday. She hasn't had a fever but I took her to the doctor yesterday just to make sure she was ok. The doc said she just has a little cold. Nothing contagious and nothing to be concerned with. She still sounds pretty bad though. Thankfully she has still been her happy little self.

video update

We still swaddle Lydia when she sleeps. One of my favorite things is seeing her stretch after we unwrap her. Her arms shoot straight up as soon as they are free. I tried capturing it in this video

We were talking to my mom on the phone on Valentine's day. Lydia started smiling really big. She loves her Mimi already! (and all her other grandparents too!)

This next (and last) video shows the girl's mad dancing skills and my awful singing capabilities. Ignore all my singing and enjoy her cute wiggliness.

I'm really stinking it up lately in the blog arena. Sorry if you are bored of pictures and videos of the babe.

I sometimes do think of other things... but she usually occupies most of my day.

random note. My sister is 38 weeks pregnant today. She is really wanting to get this baby out of her. She is about to get desperate and try anything that may send her into labor... ha. Pray that this full moon tonight brings a sweet healthy baby girl.

baby love

Patrick and I love our girl. That's an understatement but it'll have to do
We can seriously just sit and stare at her for hours upon hours. ok I can. Patrick would feel like he needed to be productive and peek glances over the page of the book he was reading.
Lydia turned 12 weeks yesterday and will celebrate 3 months a week from today. Happy Valentine's Day.

These pictures are from a few weeks ago. I'm really slow at putting up pictures lately.

What a joy Lydia is. She is becoming more and more alert every day. This past week (week 11) she found her hands. She's been bringing them up to her month and sucking on them and examining them with lots of curiosity. She's still smiling all the time and it still makes her folks swoon.
Photobucket
She slept through the night Saturday night. I woke up at 6:30 Sunday morning to realize she had slept 8 hrs. She didn't repeat the task last night... hopefully it wasn't a pure fluke and she'll start consistently sleeping through.

Patrick is surprising me with a date tonight. I have no idea what we are doing. What are your plans for V day?

josh and alyssa: engaged

Sunday I had the privilege of watching Josh propose to Alyssa and taking some pictures too. I had met Alyssa at a mutual friend's bachelorette party. The mutual friend actually put Josh and I in contact with each other so that I could document this special moment.

So here's how it went. Josh took Alyssa on a walk out in a local nature preserve. I was supposed to be hiding near a waterfall (I'm not good at hiding).

While I was (ahem) hiding I took random pictures like this.

Finally they came out of no where and I was definitely not hiding. Alyssa saw me...still not sure if this gave it away.

He read some stuff (I think a poem?? I was really trying not to listen because, I mean, it's their moment and I kind of felt like if I heard I was imposing...) and then popped the question.
Photobucket
she said yes!!
